How does Air Conditioning work?

Air conditioning does what it says on the tin and “conditions” the air. It not only cools it down but also reduces moisture content or humidity. It works by using a compressor to compress refrigerant gas, which is then circulated through the system to absorb heat from the cabin. The refrigerant is then cooled by the condenser and the process repeats.

Why we need Air Conditioning

Air conditioning prevents mould and bacteria by bringing fresh filtered air into your vehicles cabin. It’s advised to use your air conditioning at least once a week to maintain gas pressure and circulate Air Conditioning oil preventing parts from seizing. Using your air conditioning in the winter seasons on warm also has benefits which include preventing dampness in the vehicles cabin and demisting your windows by providing dry air that acts as a dehumidifier.

Air Con Servicing & Repairs

Contrary to popular belief, your car’s air conditioning plays an important function within your car – more than just keeping the inside of your car cool during warm weather. When working
properly, air conditioning helps to improve the air quality inside your vehicle, filtering out pollutants, airborne bacteria and pollen. However, over time, the refrigerant gas in your car’s air conditioning system diminishes, especially when the system isn’t used regularly. Car manufacturers recommend carrying out an air conditioning service every two years in order to keep your air conditioning working at optimum level.
